Cambodia Casinos
There is an interesting history to the Cambodia casinos that sit just over the border from nearby Thailand, where gambling hall wagering is prohibited. Eight casinos are established in a generally small area in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling halls is in a prime location, a 3 to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular betting centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai laborers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The phenomenal capital acquired from the casinos ranges from 7.5 million dollars to over 12.5 million, and there are a few restrictions requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mainly Thai; still, investment sources are ambiguous. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 17:00, and even though visas are supposedly necessary to cross, there are methods and means around this, as is accurate of most border crossings.
The original Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving just one casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored ship casino, features one hundred and fifty slot machines and sixty tables. The Naga river boat never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat banque, four tables of twenty-one, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The first gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon followed. A total of 150 slot machines and five table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machine games and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slot machines and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety six table games, including eighty seven baccarat (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machines and sixty six of the familiar table games, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-around resort and hotel building that highlights a number of amenities aside from the gambling den, which has 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machine games and 88 gaming tables.
