Cambodia Gambling Halls
There is an appealing history to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just over the border from next door Thailand, in which gambling den wagering is not allowed. Eight gambling halls are anchored in a relatively small space in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent area, a 3 to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest gaming locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai laborers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The phenomenal income gained from the gambling dens ranges from $7.5 million to more than 12.5 million, and there are a number of controls constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is required to be largely Thai; however, financing sources are vague. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 5:00 p.m., and even though visas are supposedly needed to cross, there are methods around this, as is real of most borders.
The original Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving just one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary barge gambling hall, contains 150 slot machines and 60 gaming tables. The Naga casino never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of vingt-et-un, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The original casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon followed. There are one hundred and fifty slots and five tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machine games and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slot machine games and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machines and ninety six table games, including eighty seven baccarat (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and 66 of the familiar table games, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a comprehensive vacation and hotel compound that features numerous amenities accompanying the casino, which provides 10,000 sq.ft. of 130 slots and 88 table games.
